COVID-19 Policy and safety advice
It has become clear that the coronavirus pandemic is not only a public health crisis, but that it will impact unprecedently across the driver training industry.
At Introdrive, every one of us is committed to supporting you in your journey. We have set our plans to tackle the challenging time ahead.
The risk of catching coronavirus (COVID-19) is now rated as high according to the government.
The latest government advice says to stay at home for seven days if you have either:
• A high temperature
• A new continuous cough
This will help to protect others in your community while you are infectious. Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.
You do not need to contact NHS 111 to tell them you’re staying at home.
If your symptoms worsen during home isolation or are no better after seven days, contact NHS 111 online. If you have no internet access, you should call NHS 111. In an emergency, dial 999.
Our approach at Introdrive
Our priority will be to keep the training on-going and reduce disruption much as possible.
As a driver training company, many of our Driver Trainers will be working on reduced training schedules. This is to ensure safety of Trainers and reduce contact time to priority bookings. As an employer there is a duty of care that we must adhere to Health and safety rules.
This will ensure appropriate actions to prevent anyone contracting the virus.
(COVID-19) has already impacted test centres with cancellations occurring daily. We will keep an eye out for any updates from DVSA as growing numbers of examiners are self-isolating.
DVSA will rebook your test free of charge if it has to be cancelled or changed because of coronavirus. This includes if it is done at short notice (within three clear working days of the test).
Requirements before each lesson:
• Be Symptom Free
• Washing your hands for 30 seconds
• Wear a Face Mask
• Wear Suitable Clothing
If you are not able to wear a face covering, you must inform your instructor in advance of the lesson.
How to apply face covering
Ensuring you cover your mouth and nose, making sure there are no gaps between your face and the covering and taking care to tuck away any loose ends
Avoid touching the covering while using it; if you do either wash your hands with soap and water, if available, or use hand sanitiser whilst on lessons
For pupils wearing glasses and a face covering, you should be aware of the increased possibility of glasses/eye protection fogging up. Where issues arise with this on lessons, ensure you safely resolve the problem.
Expectations of face mask
You have a physical or mental illness or impairment, or a disability that means you cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering
Putting on, wearing or removing a face covering would cause you severe distress
You need to remove it during your test to avoid harm or injury or the risk of harm or injury to yourself or others
There is a possibility of glasses/eye protection fogging up. Where issues arise with this on lessons, ensure you safely resolve the problem.
Your vehicle will be cleaned in advance of your lesson using anti-viral spray or wipes to clean the passenger door handles inside and outside, the dashboard & any other touch points (e.g. steering wheel, sat nav, mirror). Your instructor will ensure the vehicle is ventilated appropriately throughout the lesson.
No additional passengers will be permitted on your lessons or driving test. Your Driving instructor will not be allowed come with you on your test.
